I just finished setting up my new 55g with 20g long sump. I'm using a Mag 9.5 1" line with 3/4 lockline two outlets as my returns. I was wondering is there a way that I could test my tank to make sure that I have good flow around everything before I start to cycle it? Attached are some pictures of the system.

Thanks for any input

No real way you can test if you have enough flow just look for dead spots. I would Probably ad a few PH. I have a 55 as well and run a Mag 9.5 return as well along with 2 800GPH PH and a 250GPH PH. Never quite scene lockline used like that. I would assume if you wanted to clean up the tank a little you could take out the PVC. Looks good though! Is this your first Tank?

Owen,

I do have two Koralia 750 that i'm going to put behind the rock wall to help water moving around. Yea I was thinking about redoing it it later, kinda ran out of funds and time to build everything.

This is my second tank i had a 29g with no sump just a rena hob filter and backpak skimmer. I had to fp clowns that didn't make the move into their temp home, something cause a big amnoin spike while i was at work and came back to them floating.

****, sorry to hear that... I know their just "fish" but hate losing them.

Ran out of funds LOL story of my life DIY and used items is the only way I can barely survive in this hobby for equipment and then the corals...............whuuuu

Said no sump before? Think your gonna love the Sump now that you got it. I do. Even used it to house "sketchy" Critters

Going FOWLT or REEF?

All my funds are now going to daycare since I had to go back to work (i'm in the wrong business they are charge an arm and a leg for one child). Yes my 29 didn't have a sump i used a hob rena filter and a crp backpack skimmer. I'm kinda like the sump the problem is the water splashing noise that I have i can't seem to get rid of it. I have my 90s inside the over flow box pointed down with a small hole drilled on the 90s outside of the tank but it doesn't seem to help at all. If they are pointed up i get the toilet bowl affect and that is worse. If i could do it over again i would make my sump a little different it seems i gota add about a gallon of water ever other day to it before it sucks in air.

Nice start and welcome to R2R!
