Hello everyone,

I'm starting my first salt water tank 55 gallon. I've been researching like crazy to figure out which fish would be a good combo.

I've narrowed my list down to the following:

Springeri Damselfish
Blue Star Leopard Wrasse or McCoskers Wrasse
Royal Gramma
Cherub dwarf angel
Bangaii cardinal
Ocellaris Clown or Black and White Storm Clown

The above may be too many fish because of size, so I realize I may have to cut 1 or 2 from the list.

Then one of these if I can:

Blue spotted Jawfish
Neon Blue Goby
Yellow watchman Goby

Any information you can give me would be much appreciated.

I cant really say much on the others without full dimensions however, the biggest No is the flasher. This is due to their activity (I’ve mentioned this on another 50g stocking list) instead of their size.

Clowns should be the same pattern if ur aiming for a pair, yes it can work but most likely they will fight. Dont forget angelfish goes last in the tank.
Pattern doesn’t matter, it’s the species that does. Many designer clowns are Occelaris, Maroon or Percula, you can mix two morphs as long as they aren’t an Occelaris and say a Maroon. Mixing two different species can be done as you say but I will agree that most fight.

I’d actually agree about the similar morphs just from my experience. There tends to be better results if they are of the same breed or close together. Aggression varies a lot between them.
