*NEW* 75 Gal Stock List! Help me!

Okay! So, I've created a new stocking list, for a 75 gallon reef tank, here it it is; let me know if something is wrong or you disagree! (or if you agree)
1x Tomini/ Squaretail Bristletooth/ Kole Tang
1x Pair of Caramel Clowns
1x Longnose Hawkfish (still debating on inverts)
3x Wrasse (christmas, blue head fairy, and a whip fin/ multicolor lubbocks)
1x Mated Banggai Cardinal pair
1x Starry blenny
1x Mandarin (in future to increase pod count as well as dosing pods)
Inverts, we will see if my longnose is interested in any of them. I know this is a larger bioload, but I will have the equiptment as well as adding all these fish in different times. If this list is good, when should everything go in? Thank you for any help!

Blue *side* fairy, C. cyanopleura would probably be okay, but borderline for a 75. I'll let the wrasse experts let you know for sure. A blue head, Thallassoma sp, would be a bad choice.

Lubbock's would be great. Whip fin supposedly doesn't tolerate other wrasses, or at least other fairies.

Sometimes, Ctenochaetus tangs and lawnmower-type blennies hate each other. Might be okay in a 4' tank...bit of a gamble, in my experience.

1x Mandarin (in future to increase pod count as well as dosing pods)

Fine. A 75 with enough rock, and preferably a fuge section in the sump, will support a mandarin. The only concern would possibly be your 'christmas' wrasse eating too many pods.

Yes, that’s what I heard. In the right conditions, I can keep three peaceful-no pod eating- wrasses in the same 75 gal with the other fish? Or no??

I also heard that about tangs and blennies, but I’ve been reading story’s where they’re just fine so if that happens I will give the blenny a good home.

Yes, that would be reasonable. H. claudia will be an efficient pod eater, just FYI. Halichoeres wrasses are eating machines.

Make sure you have a lid. With that many fish in the tank there's bound to be some chasing which always ends up in jumping. I get very nervous taking the mesh top off during the day for that reason. I like to do maintenance at night when there's no one in sight.

Also are you saying to the OP that C. Cyanopelura is borderline because it gets to 6”?

To the OP, as for the rest of your stocking list, if you feel the Hawkfish is too much of a gamble with inverts, then maybe replace it with a shrimp and goby pair. Lots of options to choose form. I think shrimp gobies can change sex so maybe even a pair.

I’ve heard of Bristletooth Tangs and Lawnmower / Starry Blennies not getting along, can’t say for sure as I don’t intend to try that combo for my first tank, but if you’re worried I’d have a dwarf angel in the place of the Tang. A Coral Beauty, Flame, Cherub, African Flameback etc.

Also some other fish like a small group (trio maybe?) of Scissortail, Zebra or Blue Gudgeon Dartfish. A basslet like a Royal Gramma or an Assessor type fish. A small group of Chalk Bass.

Even some of the more peaceful damselfish like a pair of Yellowtails, Azures, Talbot’s, Rolland’s etc. or one of each species.

Not sure if a 75 would be too small but assuming it’s 4’ I would be tempted to have a Comet AKA Marine Betta as the centerpiece fish. It gets to 8” so you may have to cut back on some of your smaller fish, and I heard it can also be a gamble with inverts, but man it looks amazing.


If I were you I might do:

x2 Ocellaris Clownfish- Captive Bred (mated pair)
x1 Starry Blenny
x1 dwarf angel of some kind
x2 Bangaii Cardinals (mated pair)
x1 Mandarin of some type
x1-2 shrimp gobies of some kind and a shared Candy Pistol or Tiger Pistol shrimp
x1 Halichoeres sp. wrasse
x2 fairy wrasses
x1 basslet or assessor type fish

And then maybe a trio of Chalk Bass or some kind of Dartfish. Not the Firefish as they need to be in confirmed pairs.

I have a Christmas and Checkerboard. They are not buddies but coexist. Feeding a few times a day helps as well.

I forgot to add my coral beauty into the list! I may minus off a wrasse and stick with h claudia as well as a whip fin, but maybe not the blenny even though I LOVE his look- I want to keep the tang, since he will be my largest small fish! Haha, I will for sure check out that marine betta though.

I forgot to add my coral beauty into the list! I may minus off a wrasse and stick with h claudia as well as a whip fin, but maybe not the blenny even though I LOVE his look- I want to keep the tang, since he will be my largest small fish! Haha, I will for sure check out that marine betta though.

So it would be my tang, (whichever one I pick,) my two wrasses, my coral beauty, a longnose, my banggais and then my clowns. A few inverts to see if my longnose isn’t too bad, a crap ton of live rock and some coral!

Sounds great! Still I think you could add a couple more small fish no larger than 4”, maybe 3 more.

I haven't kept more than one in the same tank. Just different ones at different times.

Evolved recommends a fairly big tank for that species.

Also, the chart recommends not mixing whip fin with other fairies.

How many times do you feed a day and what’s do you feed them?

I haven’t stocked yet- I’m planning on when all of them should go in and researching, as well as getting some advice to make sure they have a good life. I can feed them anything really, I work at a pet store haha!
