New 90 gal tank is in.... BUT

Hey Gang,

Well last night my older brother brought over my new 90 gal tank and helped set it up for me!

As you can see there is no LR, just base rock. The question I have is how much live rock should I add to seed the base rock and how do I add it without upsetting off my brother? (He doesn't believe in LR in a FO tank)

Any rock that's been in saltwater for any amount of time will become live rock. So if that was setup before moved it's a live. Only thing I see in there that looks dead would be the coral skeletons.

I'll have to ask him if this is new base rock or if it was from another tank. I was thinking of seeding it with some of this:

Live rock has so much more than bacteria. Anything will grow the proper bacteria, including that day-glo pink castle your nephew loves. AND the bacteria will somehow find its way into your tank without any supplements. Does a fish only aquarium need live rock? No. However, many of the things that come in true live rock are important for different kinds of fish. Many fish eat pods, sponges, certain types of algae etc. etc. Plan on keeping sand sifters? Angels? Mandarins? A LOT of fish will benefit from live rock. My flame angel didn't eat flake food for 3 weeks! He was fat from nibbling off my liverock. The same is true for the Coral beauty and Bi-color blenny I have. I don't seem to have any feather dusters of tiny sea stas though..

On piece of real live rock will eventually see your whole tank with all kinds of fun little critters. And your fish will love 'em too!
