New 90 Gallon

Hi guys,
Looking some input, I currently have a new 90 gallon with sump, pink Fiji sand and LifeRock.
I’ve gotten the water from LFS so it was had been used as part of his setup. I have had it running for 49 hours now.
Should I add a few Chromis to help complete the cycle or hold off a few more days?

I'm not a believer in using live fish to cycle.

Use the money to buy an ammonia test kit and cycle with a dead shrimp, ammonia, fish food,etc......but not a live fish.

Hi and welcome to R2R!

You need to make sure the tank is correctly cycled really before adding any fish

I know in the past some use fish, but it’s 2019 and you can use bacteria in a bottle if you want an instant cycled tank, and then add the fish.

I’ve used ATM Colony twice and it works but there are others

Welcome to R2R! There are a few options to cycle as stated above. I am a fan of dosing then testing for ammonia. The choice is certainly yours but I also do not like using fish to cycle. I love fishys and want them to be healthy and happy. Ammonia and nitrites reading zero is where that starts =) Good luck and we are all glad to have you here. Dont hesitate to ask if u need help!

You still need an NH3/NH4 source and a little fish sparsly feeded is the best choise as I lined up in my article. Why doing things so dammed complicated when it is an easy way to set up an aquaria. Still - noone had prove the method outlined in 15 steps to be either cruel or wrong.
