So it has been a weird couple of days.
Saturday morning I wake up to see the female laying on her side breathing extremely heavy in the QT. I try to offer food (I have never seen a fish want to eat more than these 2) and the female refused to move but the male ate like normal.
As I am watching the female, the male begins to freak out and starts trying to deliberately jump out of the tank. Then starts doing the same thing as the female. I have ammonia readers stuck on the side of the tank which read "0". Air stone is going along with carbon in a HOB filter. So of course I begin to panic and the only thing I can think of is to remove them from the tank and put them in my main display.
I immediately take them out of the QT and put them in my acclimation box, inside the main display. Of course the gravity was .02 off from the 2 tanks, but I was in desperation mode. I honestly didn't think the female was going to make it but had some hopes for the male. I offered food 6 hours later and the male ate like his normal self but the female refused. Later in the night, the female took a bite or two.
So this morning I wake up and both of them are begging for food as soon as I walk down stairs..... Perfectly normal. They are eating great and show no signs of stress or weakness.
So I opened the acclimation box and let them come out as the please. Of course my pintail has to act like a ****** as always when a new wrasse is introduced, so he is now in the acclimation box for a couple days.
I have no clue what could have caused the issue in the qt tank but I am almost afraid to put another fish in there when the time comes.
Here are a couple pics of the Madagascars, the pintail in timeout, and my kwazulu fairy wrasse( was supposed to be a diamond tail flasher, but this is what ny aquatic sent me instead)
