I picked these up from a fellow reefer in Ohio. I got these sooner than I wanted as I won't start setting up my 220 till mid January.

Leopard Wrasse (5") and Pink Margin Wrasse (4")

That leopard wrasse is sweet. Is it really that aqua colored? It's not a Potter's Wrasse right?

Very nice...I've been looking for a Male Leapord for sometime now. I'm thinking of getting another female in hopes that she will change over.

PS. Do you think it would be a problem with 2 female leapords in the same tank?

Yeah the colors are pretty true. If anything they are a little washed out with the MH on. I tried pics with T5 and just wouldn't work, he was different shades of blue. Yep leopard, the Males are blue.

Not sure, with 2 females. Although they are very timid.

The purple tang has been harassing both fish. The Pink margin is fine as he will just go behind the overflow box or one of the many caves, but my leopard was doing fine until today. He normally will not come out of the sand until the MH come on but today his under the sand down in a burrow under a rock that I need a flashlight to see in. I can see the tip of his tail but he is not moving and hasn't come out all day. Not sure if he is going to make it.... Is it normal for them to stay buried all day if they are stressed or is he a goner. I can't even get anything in there to poke him and see if he is OK or not. Any suggestions?

I dont know alot about this specific wrasse but If he is dead and under a rock then some bristle worms or others of the sort will take care of the clean up, If he is OK then you would see him in due time anyway. I know it's hard but I would just wait it out as any poking or moving rock would just cause more stress.

Well the leopard is gone.. I looked down in the hole with a red flashlight and saw a huge pile of bristle worms. I shined the bright white light and they scattered and I can see part of the body of the leopard they were feasting on. Man this sux!

My purple tang is really harassing the hell out of the margin wrasse. He is doing OK and eating but that is the only time he comes out when he eats. As soon as he is done eating he hides behind the HOB overflow box. I don't think the purple tang will be making the move to the 220. It's a shame since I have had him for over 5 years.

**** that sucks Paul. I was going to say that my Leapord was out and about for the first day, but then went totally missing for 2 days.....then he reappeard. I was going to say dont give up hope yet but.....I guess he's detrivore food now

PT's are always agressive... not a good sign when wrasses stay burried under the sand.. they will slowly stress more and starve to death. Get the PT out IMO.. they're just display fish IMO compared to wrasses which provides dual roles, help in the tank and looks.

Yeah at first he was only coming out when the metal halide lights were on. I thought that was strange. With just the T5's on he would stay buried. I only run my MH lights for 5 hours so he was only swimming around for the 5 hours. Come to think of it I only seen him eat like once. With the amount of worms I have in my tank he should be gone by this evening..:squigglemouth:

I agree. Up until now the only fish he would bother was the foxface but he can hold his own.

When I break this tank down to do the build I will be selling off my Purple Tang and barred dragon goby. I really want some more lps like acans, blastos, scoly, and lobo's so I can't have him covering every thing on the bottom with sand. I'm getting really tired of having to blow off my coral 3 times a day because of the goby.
