New Aeraqua Duo Skimmer not working

I just purchased this skimmer today and having some issues. On pump speed 3 and above it is making the noise you hear in the video, the higher the speed the worse the noise and on level 2 and below it's not working at all. Please advise

I took the whole thing apart to look for an issue, but didn't see anything obvious. I ran the pump outside of the skimmer body and that seemed to run just fine. I re-assembled and the noise is even worse now. It's turned off now as it's totally non operational at this point.

Hi, how about running the pump alone, is the noise from the pump?

How is your water level? Is it above the max line on the skimmer? It looks like it's over a bit.

Also, check both air intake's and silencer for any blockages. Try running it without the silencer.
It looks like the rubber feet on not installed and it's sitting direclty on the floor of the sump. Can you install those and see if that helps?

Mine was pretty noisy for the first week (nothing like your second video) but once it was broken in it was super quiet and really could only hear it sucking air at about 8 or higher (slight audible whistle, super annoying so I ran it at 7)

I eventually installed a recirculating Co2 Scrubber and I can now run it wide open on 10 with no audible whistle. Pretty happy how it turned out.

Thanks for the tips, I've been working with Coralvue support and they have suggested a bunch of things but so far we have not been able to get it to work. I've tried the water level at various levels including right at and below the line and no change. Skimmer has been disassembled and reassembled multiple times and no blockages or loose connections can be found. Running without the silencer makes it even worse. Rubber feet are installed and it is sitting directly on the floor of sump, i think in the one video i had it on a temporary platform.

@csmaxspect no noise from the pump when running alone. I'm not sure what else to do at this point, it is almost a week since i've attempted to install and have tried everything suggested here and from Coralvue customer support. I've been in the hobby for 15 years and have owned many skimmers and have never had any issues like this.

I've sent a lot of documentation and videos to Coralvue already but the one thing i am wondering is if something else was damaged in shipping other than this area of the bubble plate. They didn't seem to think this would be the cause of the issue, but i'm just thinking that if this piece was damaged, is there something else less noticeable that is causing the skimmer to not operate as it should

Mine has the same chip on that piece.

I also have some brittle blue plastic pieces from the pump intake area with small cracks in them from taking apart and cleaning. Wonder if they have replacement parts for it yet?

Nvm, I found the piece I needed right here. Keep an eye on this one, its pretty easily broken.

Hi, regarding this issue, please kindly take out the bottom panel, dry it, check it whether it is installed evenly and fasten the 8 screws locking it, and see if it can reduce the noise?

Hello, i did actually try these steps exactly already and made sure it is even exactly as the picture shows, did not help

OK please take out the skimmer and bottom panel as a whole, then remove the bottom panel and see whether there's any water leaking out from the holes or gaps inside the bottom panel?

I've fixed the noise with your last suggestion about the bottom panel. The screws were only hand tightened and needed to be turned with a screwdriver. One step forward, two steps back though. Now the water level in the skimmer will not raise up over about halfway in the body. No matter what level the controller is set to, no matter what level the dial is set to, or if the pumps are set to full open or recirc.

Now let that puppy break in. The level will go up eventually, just need to get a nice slime coat for proper break in

I'm not so sure. I've gotten skimmate into the collection cup even with the horrible noise. This is a new issue with the level. Before i could easily control with the knob, pump speed, none of that currently works

Hi, how about checking the left and right water Inlets? did you turn on 100% open to draw water in?

The inlets have no affect on water level either. I've tried both 100% open and every other combination. Before i fixed the noise issue, inlet position, pump speed and the water level dial each could have a dramatic effect on water level, but now none of them move the level

Raised the water level up and inch in the sump and may be in business here now. Now these adjustments seem to be having an effect.
