Hey folks. We picked up a new Alveopora coral. Got it on the sand bed and it seems to be opening up pretty well as the lights come on this morning.

Any guidance or insights on keeping this guy happy? How does this specimen look to your more seasoned eye?

Cheers!

looks great.
moderate alternating flow.
medium high light.
at least mine did.
lost all 4 to what I believe to be aluminum toxicity.

Are you sure that isn't a goniopora? Alveopora will only have 12 tentacles on each polyp and that looks like way more than 12 on each.

Looking good!! I find that mine have benefitted from weekly reefroids but this is totally optional. Just got a new one from a friend that was severely abused. Bleached, a dead spot, barely any polyps, been a month now and through reefroids feedings and good perams it’s starting to recover! Yours is beautiful, I hope it lives a long and happy life!

Sure is such a strong word lol

I "think" it is buuuut...I could be wrong

I’ve had this guy for a while now at first it was in the bottom front where it was ok for quite a while then started receding to where I thought it was a goner so I moved it to where it is now( behind clam and under a overhang and it sprang back better than before so I think not so much flow and good indirect light I have radions and a vortech,

Thank you guys. How fast do they grow under good conditions?

As long as parameters are good they will
Grow but they can be difficult some have good luck
Others not when diving I see them in tidal pools and some what crappy parts of the reef they seem to like the murky part more nutrients ? I had not so much luck
With gonoporia but this alveopora has been good for almost a year I’ve heard they don’t like to be touched and clowns are a no no with them they will try and host it and harasse the hell out of them

Looks good to me. My first Alveopora did indeed tun out to be a Goniopora. Had it for several years and then added a true Alveopora and two more Goni's about a month and a half ago. My original Goni has been closed up ever since. No idea what the problem is but did a large (near 50%) water change yesterday and am hoping for improvement.

After spending a couple days in the tank, it seems to be doing pretty good!

Day 3 of Alveopora!
Just got one. It was opening up but upgraded my powerheads and it kinda closed up from new flow. I haven’t placed it yet so I’m thinking under a rock with some light on it?
