Just your average freshwater guy who had too many tanks who decided to try saltwater... I set up a 40 breeder with all HOB gizmos, set up a JBJ 12 as a quarantine tank, and a 20 Long to hold frags in quarantine. I quickly realized that I liked nothing that I set up, made some deals, and ended up trading and selling multiple tanks. Ended up with a 120 reef ready aquarium and a 210 or 220 all for right around the cost of free.

So we shall see how this new adventure goes. I’m keeping my 40 breeder running while I do the transition to the 120. The 210 will be set up sometime next year, if everything runs smoothly. If it doesn’t, the 210 will end up being freshwater with a 90 gallon sump I got for $5...

Wish me luck!

Welcome to R2R! I look forward to following your adventure!!!

I do have a question - how many tanks is too many? o_O

I was running two 90 gallon tanks, which I didn’t like the dimensions of, three 55 gallon tanks, two 40 breeders, one as a planted tank, one saltwater, 3 quarantine tanks of sorts, I was going to set up one of those 30 gallon JBJ aquariums, when I came across the almost free deals. All of which were in my living room. At some point, I needed to decide to have a dedicated fish room, or to just get rid of what I wasn’t happy with and shoot for the aquariums I really wanted.

Yes, there is no question that a fish room makes multiple-tank-syndrome (MTS) far more acceptable for those who share your home! :)

I’m thinking that I will always have MTS, but I am going to have a plan for what I want and select aquarium setups that suit those goals.

Seahorses one day.
Maybe a predator tank, smaller predators.

But for now, going to do a reef tank right!
