New and looking for tips

Welcome to R2R! What size is the frag tank? I know you mentioned 9" deep, but how long and wide will also come into play to make sure the light can spead properly over the whole tank. Also what lighting are you running?

Welcome, NO EXPERT HERE, but 9" is pretty shallow. I'd start pretty high and move the light down. You could cook em pretty easy at that depth if you're not careful.

Welcome to R2R!!! You’re getting good advice so I will just emphasize the importance of spread and starting low on intensity and then slowly increasing. Good luck!

Welcome to R2R! On my small 10 gallon coral QT, I keep the lights about 10" above the water level. Allows easy access for frequent maintenance, feedings, and is high enough to eliminate most salt creep on the light's surface.

Welcome aboard Sean! You're already geeing some good advice, so I will just emphasize that you've joined a great community with loads of experience. We also like pictures.

Tank is 36/24/9 gonna run 4 t5 bulbs two blue plus two aqua blue specials and a prime hd planned on doing mixed coral

My suggestion, as offered by others, is to start it a little higher, say 15+/- inches. Then you can adjust as need based on intensity and spread. At 9" depth, that's a lot of light so you'll want to be careful getting started. Just my $.02.
