Hi Ya'll I'm kinda new to all this. My boss got me started and now I'm obsessed! I'm in need of some advise, I have a brain coral that I don't think is going to make it, at first his skeleton started showing and now it's 75% of him. He did look like he was coming back (with lots of TLC) Then I got 2 deco crabs and over night it looks like something took a bite of him so I put him on the frag tray away from the crabs and everyone else. I really don't know what else I can do to help this little guy out. I'm posting a pic of what he looked like when he was coming back and what he looks like now. If anyone can give me some advise I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Welcome to R2R and the salty world. As others have said, advice might be available if the tank parameters are known. Lots of knowledgeable and helpful people here who will support and advise you when needed.

cut off area where is dead tissue/recession
Typical causes are :
Some possible triggers of infection are:
- Alkalinity spike
- Temperature spike
- Salinity spike
- Low dissolved oxygen
- Poor water quality related with phosphate levels up to 5 ppm
- Change in water flow
- Additions of sand
- Changes in brand of salt
- Bad test kits giving faulty results
- Levels of minor elements such as Iodine, Potassium, Strontium
- Light intensity
- - Changes in water flow
- Addition of new corals

You can try an iodine dip, but may be too late. Assure tank does not have elevated Phosphate or nitrate and Calcium and alk levels are in range.

CA - 400-440
Mag 1300-1350

Welcome! Glad you joined. If a mouth is there you could try feeding but keep water parameters stable (you don't list what they are, so knowing could be part of what you've been overcoming). Good luck to you!

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)

This might help you find people local to you:

This is a good reference book type online article I still review:
