New AP 700s

I had two AP700's on my 60"x27"x27" tank, they were nothing but a headache. Getting one to talk to the other one and communicate with each other (and Kessil's app) like they were supposed to was a PITA. Every time there was a brief power outage, or if the power was shut off by the APEX then the entire frustrating process began again.

I personally found the software to be disappointing and very very buggy. It took me less than 5 months of using them before I was so frustrated that I spent $2500 on an 60"ATI Powermodule fixture and haven't regretted it at all! My PAR values more than tripled, and with the introduction of nutrients the growth of my frags has really taken off. Plus ATI's software works like it is supposed to, and matching the LED's on the fixture to a specific T5 bulb in their program is as simple as clicking on the which ATI bulb you want it to emulate, or you can adjust it via each color channel. Super slick!

Do yourself a favor and pick something else.

This is just my experience, your mileage may vary.

is that with the new apogee and the conversions? Ive seen some really weird stuff off of the seneye. IMO kind of a contradiction to apogees methods.
fwiw its why I dont chase the numbers too hard. seems like big differences in meters or its the users.

Folks keying in on PAR meters because of the accuracy forget that accuracy's not always the most important thing – sometimes it's not even all that important. (Our water test kits would all be useless otherwise.)

They probably haven't actually used a lux meter either, in spite of the apps being totally free and in spite of a handheld version costing less than $15 including delivery. (And in spite of being able to use a PAR meter to create an accurate conversion factor to use with their lux meter.)

One day at a time! :)

P.S. The Seneye has that really narrow lens...I bet it's a little similar to the optics of the phones, but with better software.

@gus6464 If you haven't already (and assuming you're curious) try a search on the whole forum for the term "lux" and see how people are actually using #lux #meters. Try not to be too stuck on the theoretical. ;)
