Just wanted to let the Aquamaxx fans know they came out with a newer line of skimmers. They're cone and much taller with a slimmer diameter.
FC-180 is equivalent to the Q2.
FC-280 is equivalent to the Q3.
There's a smaller one also, the FC-80.
This is per Aquamaxx btw.
Here is an email I got from them explaining the differences, besides the cone shape and being taller
-Adjustable air intake
-Secured bubble plate assembly, with newly designed bottom plate
-Newly designed, precise and detachable outlet gate/valve
-Separate ozone venturi connection, except for the smaller FC-80
-Newly designed hemispherical (lid) collection cup
-Smaller base with approximate 7.5" diameter
-The 2 bigger skimmers have a recommended water depth of 8-9 inches
They're also cheaper than the regular Q-line.
Can't wait to see how they work. Back to the reliable cone.
