Hello all,
Two days ago I switched my lighting from the fluval sea reef light to two of the marsaqua eBay lights (165w each). My aquarium is a standard 75, and all I have at this point is softies. I hung the new lights 12" above the water and decided to start the whites on the lowest setting possible and the blues on 20%. All of my corals are doing fine with the new light so far except two. I have a Kenya tree coral that closed up immediately and hasn't opened since, and one of my ricordea Florida's isn't opened up as much as usual. My question is, is this usual when changing over lights? Also, I can still move those two corals to shadier spots if I need too. Is it possible that it's too much light even on the lowest setting? I'm planning on ramping up the light slowly over the next month or so.

Corals dont do well to any sudden changes...without taking PAR/PUR reading before and after you really dont know if the light is vastly different. I would say leave things alone for a week and see what happens. Their reaction is no different from ours going from a dimly lit house to outside on a sunny day. I think they will be fine.

Thanks! I'll wait to turn up the lights until everything looks back to normal or better. I don't have a par meter, and it seems like a decent amount to spend if I'm only going to use it a couple of times.
