So I've seen everyone upgrades to a new and larger aquarium from time to time. I made my first "upgrade" last year, but it was technically a used tank with a few scratches. I'm curious where everyone has gotten their new aquariums from, how long you've had them, and if you don't mind sharing: how much it cost (tank, stand, top).

Mine was a used 120g for $400. Came with about 100lb live rock, 75lb sand, small top canopy, custom sump, and custom stand.

I had a 125g before selling alot of it other than my MP40s and 6000- SSS 6 years ago. Getting everything ready for finishing my basement right now and I'll have a 280g built into the wall with its own filter room, but I've spent $9,874.80 since 6/13/2020. The way I figure it I've got about $4,800ish left, includes lights and 2 more powerheads.

Impressive! It sounds like you budget your money a little better than I do when it comes to reef stuff. Lol

My 90 gallon from SC Aquariums was $700 iirc. I traded roughly $300 of flooring for the stand. It's only been filled with water for about 6 weeks but I like it.

I started with my 75g. I’ve had that running and collecting for 5 yrs now and upgraded to a 24x48x30 this past Feb. Currently I have about $18k into this tank including corals. Thats including building my own stand and canopy.

Probably not lol, it's that tax free money you get when you give up the last 6 years of your life working out of the country and only coming home for about 30 days a year.

Right on. I started with a 55g FOWLR, unfortunately I let it get kind of bad and my interest in the hobby faded for a few years. Then last year it kind of reignited and I made the decision to upgrade and start an actual reef.

Got my aqueon 180 peninsula ordered through my work. LOVE IT!! It's now been officially up 1 year.

Everything was transferred from my DSA 190g which was up and running for about 3.5 years.

I'm sorry to hear that.

Yeah don't feel sorry for me it's a choice I made to get ahead easily. If I do this for 2 more years I'll own my home that I had built 2 years ago and wont owe a dime to anyone, already own both cars and have zero CC debt, I do buy everything on my CC's then pay it off before the end of the month.

Well I hope everything goes well for you!

Here’s my old tank for reference. Sorry for the horrible photo it’s clipped from a video.

I got my most recent aquarium from craigslist. I really wanted the circular AIO by innovative marine but it was discontinued. There were a few left in stores but I found a used one on craigslist for a bit cheaper!
