I just opened my new APC back up battery I got from staples last summer. It has a strong burnt smell when it’s running on the battery. I don’t see any smoke or burnt on the battery or any where, yet.

how do I go about deal with them? How’s their customer if anyone had dealt with them before.

not that it’s kinda of making me feel sick but I am afraid that it will messed up with my tanks.

I stopped using it and set it aside.

APC Back-UPS Pro UPS Battery Back Up, 10 Outlet, Black (BN1100M2)

I would adtess this with manufacturer

Yeah, you're probably past when Staples will help. Best to go direct to APC. Do you know what kind of manufacturers warranty it has?

I just looked it up. It has a standard 3 year repair or replace warranty, so APC should be able to help you.

Thanks all. I will try to contact them and see if they stand behind their products. I am running a cyber power for over a year now with no issue.

APC will ship out a replacement so I can send the defective one back. Will see

APC customer service was great and I already got a brand new unit yesterday. Also, it was an upgraded version. However, it still smell like burnt plastic when it’s running on the battery simulating a power outage.

The smell is not as bad as the previous one. I am running a cyber power on my other tank for almost two years and had no issue with that smell. I always let the pump and heating run on the cyber power battery when I am doing water changes, no smell new or now.

For those that has APC, can you guys chimp in?
