I have a 150 been running for 4 months now. It has two pajama Cardinals and one magnificent rabit fish in it. I wanted to possibly get some chromes but someone told me they are prone to have uronema. I decided even with a quarantine tank I'm better off not getting them.
Then I was reading about anthias I though maybe I will get 5 or 6 females, and let them decide who the male will be.
But my main question is.
Since I know it will be nearly impossible to quarantine all six in a 20g with out fighting to the death. Would a freshwater dip and a packet of safety stop be enough?
I know a lot of you are going to say quarantine them. But then again I've had good luck using safety stop in the past. Please give me your feed back. Thanks have a great St Patrick's day!

Welcome to R2R first off!!

I think you could get away with 5-6 Bartlets in a 20 QT long enough to get them through QT.

You think? Would you dose right away or wait to see if you see anything on them?

If you are going to the trouble of QT, run the full Gambit of meds for internal parasites, ich, bacterial and fungal infections. If you are going to "observe only" why not do it in the display? Your best water quality will be in the main display usually, and this is much less stress in the fish. The downside is, if there is anything bad in/on the fish, it's now in your display...
Anthias are one of those where a good QT is probably a good idea.

Hate to tell you .... pseudoanthias are prone to uronema also. Maybe not as frequently as with the blue-greens, but still common. In fact, chromis and pseudoanthias share many common traits. Both are chippy and aggressive to their own kind ad need frequent feedings. Bartletts are particularly intolerant of their own and will mostly all turn male. Upside is the males are spectacular fish.

How many would you suggest I get if I got all female? Since your saying they may all turn male. I have loads of swimming room.

Also what's a good QT med mix or do you guys know a good all in one med to use??

Because of their propensity for turning male, most of the online sources don’t actually give you the choice of gender. You just get what you get. You’d have to go to your LFS if you wanted to select just females.

Sorry, should have added - if you order small ones they’re generally females as they are less mature. Downside is they are more delicate. Last tim I did this, I got them in the 1” range and they were all females. Only got half through QT though.

Good point. See I don't even trust my LFS in Ohio everyone is a expert they think.pluse the store that have been around 10+ years in my area are trash now, they just sell to make money and have no care sadly. That's why I'm looking online.

A 20G should be fine for what you have in mind.
Barlett anthias have a habit of all turning male FYI (and will be quite aggressive to each other). You may want to consider a different species.
