Hi All!

It’s been a few years since my last tank as my job transferred me around the country. I moved back home to Wisconsin in May and took out the old equipment and started a new basement build. Tank and frag tank have fully cycled and I’m fine tuning everything in now.

My plan is to have a display with a few fish and add soft corals. My frag tank will be manly an SPS grow out tank.

Here are a few pics of what I have been working on and spending a lot of time in the basement.

Wow! There is a lot to really like there - in addition to the DT, the sump and frag tanks are awesome! I look forward to hearing more about this system! What were your lessons learned as you put this together? What were you really happy with? What would you do differently?

I’ll post a list of equipment in the future as it’s a mix of old and new.

What’s different this time versus in the past is the patience and learning from past mistakes.

One of my changes this time was building a mixing station. Much easier and faster than the buckets previously used. Although, I will be adding the Neptune DOS for auto water changes. I’m anxious to see how a water change over a set period of time works compared to doing is all at once.

Here are some updates!

I did add a couple of Neptune DOS and use 1 for water change. Gotta say that I really like the automated water change over a 24hr period.

I also picked up the Trident and after almost a year of use, I will say this has been a great purchase and allows me to keep my Alk and Ca levels so much more steady than ever before. I'll be honest and say in past years it's been a learning experience with various hard and soft corals, but I attribute having the Trident, in my case, to experiencing successful growth of all my corals.
