Hello!

I'm taking the plunge and downgrading from a 55 gallon tank, to a biocube 32 gallon to help free up some room in the house, and wanted to bounce my attack plan off everyone(and now its in writing so i don't forget):

Chamber 1:
  • Coralife Protein Skimmer. I know it gets bad reviews, but it's coming with the tank, so i'll try it out. If i don't like it, i'll upgrade to a Aquatic Life 115
  • Jager 125 watt heater
Chamber 2:
  • Intank media basket with Filter Floss, purigen, and chemi-pure elite
  • Intank fuge with cheato. i'll get the JBJ nano light for cheato
Chamber 3:
  • I already have a Cobalt MJ1200 pump, so i'll upgrade that
I'll also throw a mini powerhead in there for more water movement. Of course sand and around 30 pounds of live rock will be in the display.

My main question is do you feel the Cheato will benefit a small tank like this, or with the media basket is it a waste of time?

Looks good and I, personally, have had pretty good luck with the Coralife skimmer - I did buy a better metal air valve because the stock plastic one is less than precise!

As for setting up a fuge with Cheato, I might wait and see if you really need the help exporting nitrates, etc. Looks like you'll have a good, standard filter set up with increased flow and it will probably be sufficient according to the experiences of other reefers writing on this blog.

Good luck

Filtration will all depend on what do you intend of keeping in there.
Good poitn. Right now the plan is to stick with Fish and live rock, with a clean up crew obviously. once the new tank is ready i'll be moving my two clowns, cardinal, and blenny over to the new setup. Long term goal is to upgrade the lights to Steves LED upgrade and hope for some easier coral and an anemone.

I think that with the skimmer and media basket you should be good, I have a a fusion 20 and all i did was upgrade my pump and i had a canister filter, so am actually using it to run purigen, matrix and clear fx pro.
