I picked up a blue tang and yellow tang last night and seemed healthy. The blue tang was eating right after drip acclamation. This morning was up against cleaner shrimp and noticed a large scrape on his side. Is there anything i can do so scrape isn’t infected? If he has ich what is the recommended treatment ? He is swimming around and eating just fine still.

Hes in a 40 gallon (plenty of hiding spots) then will be transferred to my 125 in a few weeks after he gets better.

currently have :
Inverts: cleaner shrimp, a few hermit crabs, sand sifting star, 3 cleaner clams, narsarius snail,

Fish: yellow head goby, 2 mandarin gobys and the yellow tang all of wich can be moved to my bigger tank if needed.

Thanks!

Tangs sometimes get those scrapes when they wedge themselves into the rocks to sleep at night. Usually not a problem. But watch the area for redness, darkening, or the development of a white-ish film.

Thanks. What do i do if it becomes infected?

Feeding high quality foods with some vitamins added like Selcon, Zoecon, Vita-Chem, and this can really help, Beta Glucan.

And then there are antibiotics. Here's a link:

Thanks!
