Hi there, I recently bought a brittle starfish for my tank and I know they tend to be nocturnal and do most of their time scavenging food at night but so far I don't think my starfish has gone out under the rock that he hid immediately I dropped him in there. (Its been about a week since I had him) Though he did take a piece of shrimp that I dropped near his hiding hole. Is there anything can do to coax him out to be more active during the night and actually like to see him move around my tank at night even if its like 3 in the morning. He's about 6" in diameter if that makes a difference.

i have one that came with the live rock ( she is really big now) i maybe see it once a week during the night for a bit, i don't think there’s anything you can do, they are inside the rocks most of the time. ill say just let them be :-) i wish i could see mine everyday too lol. but as long as is healthy and eating don't worry about it.

As others have said, they tend to honestly not do much. They dont move much. They pick a spot then extend their arms trying to reach for food when its near. If food is a few inches away they will move to it otherwise it seems like it's too much work for them.

This is the most active ive even seen mine. Its an old video, about a year, trying to learn to climb, lol otherwise it doesnt do much. Been alive for well over 1 and a half years.

I find creatures that don’t come out Much to be cool. It’s part of why I find them interesting and make it cool when you do see them.

Mine’s been hiding for 2 months. Every so often i see a leg peeking out behind a rock
