Hi All,

New to this site and hoping your guidance can put my mind at ease since I am starting to freak out!!

I bought a beautiful BTA last Sunday, acclimatized him for a couple of hours before putting him in the tank. He anchored himself quickly where I placed him and pretty much stayed there other than a few shuffles to the left. Overnight he had hidden himself on the ceiling of a dark little cave within my rock work. Pretty normal by all accounts from what I have read. I checked on him daily and he seems to be moving about a little within the cave but he still hasn't ventured out. Again, pretty normal as far as I am aware. Its been a week now and he still in the cave and now I am starting to worry. Yesterday and the day before yesterday he was expelling waste, black slimey looking ball each time. I though he was disintegrating but that didn't appear to be the case. He still has his bright orange colour, tentacles are obviously pulled in and have been ever since I put him in the tank. Do I need to be concerned? I have left him alone and haven't fed him at all since getting him. Tank details and parameters below:

Tank - AquaOne 275litre cube. 8months old
1 x Hydra 52 light mounted 12inches
above water level.
2x Jebao RW8 mounted on the back glass towards the top of the tank on the lowest setting, angled towards the side glass on either side.
All the rock is live.
Running activated carbon and phosphate remover.
Biological filtration consists of marine pure ceramic spheres.
Water Params:
Sg-1.025, always stable
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 15
Ph - 8-8.2
KH - 9
Mg - 1380
Calc - 450
Phosphate - 0.075
Temp - 25C

I have taken pics of the tank and the BTA.

Any suggestions would be welcome!

Ok great, thanks, I will wait it out

Just a quick update......hes finally emerged from the cave and has positioned himself on a small ledge at the back of the tank......where no one will ever see him lol. Fed him a small bit of shrimp which he took very quickly. Hes still not fully out or inflated but I guess the signs are good!

Thanks for the update. My LTA has positioned himself where he can't be seen. I am still hoping he moves.

This always happens to me as well! My BTA currently resides under a large wall hammer. You can only see him if you know to look for him :/
