hi, i just picked up a really nice rose bta about 3 days ago and it looks in perfect health. however when i put it on the tank in went strait into a cave and hasent come out for 3 days. sometimes i will see it roaming around at night.

The two I have now are the only ones I've had that have NOT moved, and I've had them over 6 months. Yours is likely looking for that "sweet spot" with the light and flow it wants. The issue is it not getting plastered in a power head intake or your overflow while it casts about for the right place to set up shop.

expect them to move around. They are finding the perfect spot. I got a new one a few months back and it just decided to randomly move, so it's been crawling all over.

As mentioned above, they will move around until they find the spot that they like. This is normal and to be expected. They will also hide from the light for a short period of time...this is also normal. Whatever you do, don't mess with it...just leave it alone and let it do it's thing. It will come out when it's ready.

Also, it's recommended not to feed a new anemone until after 1 week has passed from the time you added it to the tank. Feeding them too soon can stress them.

Welcome to R2R!
Solid advice given. Youa basically just have to give them what they need ( proper light, flow, and water quality) and let them do their thing. He will eventually settle on a spot he likes given the right conditions. Dont try to move him, feed him, or anything else. Keep an eye on him though, and cover your powerheads if possible. Good luck and keep us posted!

ok thank you so much this makes me feel tons better. All my power heads and my overflow is covered.

I have a relatively new Green BTA that spent its first three weeks wandering around a 6 square inch area that was absolutely perfect. A few days ago it found the back entrance to the cave it is anchored in and popped out the back. It was a little bleached when I got him so I’m trying to keep him comfortable for recovery. He looks to be very happy in his new spot...which kind of blows! Mine in the beginning would seek shade and retreat to his cave as he adjusted to the lights.
