Just got a new Bta nem today (overnight shipping) and it looked like it was pooping when I opened his package(I know what zooxanthellae looks like as my hammers expelled some). I think he is alive as I have seen him move his arms(might just be a mind trick), inflate and deflate his little arms(also might be a mind trick), he barely clings to the lr and I can't do a smell test because again, it already smells kind of bad. I placed him on the live rock but he fell into a hole and I can't reach him, what do I do if he dies?

My opinion would be to create the best circumstances for him to thrive. Consider your lighting intensity and schedule if you don’t know for sure what lighting he came from. Slowly acclimating to new lighting is best. It’s normal for them to hide for a few days. If after several days he hasn’t came out try to find him and move him

Update: It hasn't died yet as the water isn't smelly or coloured, I'm pretty sure its hole is blocked off by its body and it's facing a different direction(I could see it's tentacles before). How long do they take to adjust?
