Hi all just a quicky. I bought a bubble coral cheap as some of the skeleton had been exposed and wasnt bone white. And the rest of the coral was extending fine so I took a punt. It opened fine the first day then the next the 3rd day not so much and last night I checked after lights out and it had stringy jelly out the middle of it as in the pic. I know what brown jelly looks like as had it on a wall hammer 2 years ago, but this looked different and didn't suck up as easily. So just wandered if anyone thought it was bjd or just the coral dying? I have now moved it to a different tank after blowing the jelly stuff away in a bucket not my tank and dipping it in an iodine bath. The new tank has no lps in just incase it is bjd. I have heard bubble corals can recover well given time. Or is this just a loss I need to face? The first pic is just before I removed it and second is in the new tank.

I noticed what looks like a baby bubble coral on the rhs ant the front.

I can tell you that I had a beautiful bubble coral in my last tank. And it would eat well, and would expel waste regularly.

Yours may be doing just that.

I also have a friend who would frag them regularly. Always an iodine dip afterwards and they would heal up quickly.

So while I am not an expert, I don’t think it’s a goner by any means looking at the pics.

I hope this at least helps you feel a bit better about it surviving.

Thanks for a bit of a positive reply I only got it Saturday I don't think is was bjd as that blows away really easily, this didn't. On a side note the flesh has receded a little more than before so it's now in a tank with lower flow and light. Fingers crossed it does pull through.

Definitely very low flow. Mild pulse if possible , not a constant flow in 1 direction.

And definitely lower lighting

It's the standard fluval 13.5 evo light and return pump with no extra powerheads in there as I don't want my hems getting sucked in. The flow bounces off the rocks and does pulse slightly.
