I picked up my first nem this weekend, drip acclimated it and got it into the tank. He has since moved from where i put him and is hiding deep in the rocks. I read on the forum that this is pretty normal. My question is, should i reduce or turn off the lighting to allow it to better acclimate?

I agree with the advice above, they’re pretty hardy little creatures and are very good at finding the space they like best. Just mind your pumps. :)

Best of luck!

He'll move to whatever spot he wants to be in, I have one that is in more flow and light than some of my acros but actually moved there

CONSENSUS!

Thanks everyone, I'll keep an eye on him and see what he decides to do. He spent all day yesterday in between two rocks all closed up. today he hasn't moved but is open crammed in between the rocks in the dark.

So everyday he has been hiding like this

Today i set my lights to acclimation mode and he came right out

Should i let the full two week acclimation run again or should i ramp the lighting back to normal in more or less time?

With BTAs, I don't think they need much lighting acclimation. Your BTA may completely deflate, expel some brown stringy stuff, then re-inflate and look totally happy.

I hate to ask, but how old is your tank?

Also, if you're planning to keep anemones for any period of time, as previously advised, get covers for your powerheads. They don't completely prevent an anemone from getting shredded, but they do help. The last thing you want is to have an anemone pureed by your powerhead.
