Hello All...

Ok.. well guess im going to post as i progress on my new tank build. I should start by introducing myself and tell a bit about where ive been in the hobby and where im going.
Im coming back into the hobby after 15yrs away. I have owned 750g sps dominated tank back then. I was pretty successful. Due to "life events" i had to part with that tank which i loved.
Im now starting my escape room.. which will have a 180g display. The room im building is in a currently unfinished basement. Everything needs to be built. From walls to ceiling -heat, electrical. I do everything myself with help from a few friends.
My build will be about functionality / reliability/ ease of maint and some insane redundancy(beacuse equipment does fail) It will be slow as i build most everything myself. And i work 50-60hrs a week.
I will use some leftover old equipment i have and some new technology (apex- new to me tech..dc pumps/gyre's led lighting. Led is big for me. I used to run 5 400W MH and VHO's back then.
Attached is a photo of the raw room construction. And some of the equipment i will be setting up.
I will of coarse add as i progress.

Thanks for Looking

Sounds like a great build Keith and keep the pictures coming

And welcome to R2R as well by the way!

Welcome, hope your build goes smoothly and in your favour you have experience.
Good luck

Walls framed and Electrical work done . 3 totals circuits..20amps each. Of coarse i had to install a new Sub box. Done for this weekend! Using 2 100g rubbermaid stock tanks in tandem for sump.
Next weekend plumbing.. putting a sink with pump - run hot and cold piping. More spackle during the week and maybe some paint.

This build presents some challenges. 1- Power- I live in an area with poor electric infrastucture. Poor voltage stability- sometimes fluxuates- minus 20% !! My power goes out on average 8 days a year. Longest being 14 days. Solution- I have installed a whole house automatic Onan generator. Because reefing is expensive.. and i have had losses in the past at my previous location due to power failures. To error on the side of redundancy..i have a 8500w portable as backup.
2- Well water - My starting TDS is about 180. And well water can change. solution- 7 stage RO/DI with booster pump.
3- Septic system.. water change water- I know some say its ok.. but have you ever put salt water in a concrete bowl?. Long term its not good. Solution- i setup a Blueline HD 70 and piped my water change water to be pumped out of the basement into a leader downspout which goes out the woods.
I think i have things figured out but im sure something will pop up... See how it goes....
