I’ve been hinting for a few years that I’d like one and finally got the green light. Here we go:

Picked up 2 lockable cabinets, planned on putting a 20g sump in 1. (I have toddlers, security is a must.

Bought the eshopps overflow box and love it so far, drilling was intimidating but definitely doable. Spent an after noon plumbing up.

Was sold on the variable speed Current 1050 return pump.I tested it on max because the overflow was only rated for 700g but it can keep up with the emergency overflow. I have it tuned at 40% rn balancing with the gate valve.

Im star with x2 a160Kessils. Will be a while before I put in SPS and I can do more research on lighting until then. I do love the shimmer.

Added an MP10 and love it. Will get another.

Went with the Buba Megas Curve 5, I don’t think having an oversized skimmer will be a problem?

Getting live rock and sand on Sunday and will be setting the clock. Hoping to see diatoms come may.

Can’t wait to geek out on some cord management and dosing.
Wish me luck!

I love 40g’s (that’s what I have)! Looks great and keep us posted!

i would probably change that stand out for one with an even surface and not between two cabinets. It could cause uneven pressure and a leak on your floor at any time

everything else is looking good!

maybe a piece of plywood and a leveling mat will help but an even surface stand would be best

Actually I was just thinking the same thing.

while your at it though i would just get the tank drilled as an external overflow is another leak hazard if power goes off and on for whatever reason

Agreed. I think you’ll be much happier in the long run if you have a sump. I have a 20g tall sump and it has room for the things I’ve added over the years. Drilling’s not hard.

I have a 40B setup myself and run an over sized skimmer. I had to turn it off recently because my phosphate dropped out cause diatoms. I may be running it for a few hours a week but since it's been off the sand and rocks look so much better.

I have the reef octopus 150 skimmer, not sure about yours and how they match up tho.

Sorry just seeing this post now. Good point. I thought since it was a heavy frame and small tank I’d be fine… But it wouldn’t hurt to sit it on a sleeper to even out the load.
