New Build! Custom 110G Peninsula by Miracles

Hi everyone!

I've been working on a new build for the last several months and thought I'd share my progress. Feel free to comment!

Tank dimensions 60Lx24Hx18W.

Peninsula tank - rimless with external over flow

First was to plan out where to put this thing and fit dimensions to it. My wife came up with an idea to separate the kitchen and living room. I thought a peninsula tank would be great to keep the space open and to allow plumbing to be hidden to the basement. Tank is going where tile meets carpet

We went with 60 inches long to allow for a large enough walkway between rooms and 18 inches wide to not shrink down the floor plan too much. After that I went to my LFS A Reef Creation to get suggestions and draw up plans

Fast forward 3 months from planning and ordering to the tank arriving the week of thanksgiving

The tank came out really well. Took long but the quality is incredible. Tough to see but the edges on the bottom are rimmed and there is a lot of support around the edges on the bottom of the tank. The external overflow is supported to be pretty much as strong as another separate aquarium

I'm glad everything went well for you! I'm a huge fan of external overflows myself. Decided not to go with one this time around though since my tank will be so tiny. I really like the dimensions you used, looks sleek.

Im also glad to hear about the quality! Definitely a reassurance as I wait to get the confirmation to type in my credit card information lol

Started on stand building and went with a 24 inch height so that when sitting in living room you are eye level with the middle of the tank. Great for viewing. One picture taken from sitting on my couch to see what I'm seeing. Went with 4x4s on the corners as space underneath isn't much of an issue. Wrapped the bottom and top in 2x6s and used 2 cross braces to add more support

Finished stand product. Went all the way to the wall as the goal is to extend our wall using drywall and similar trim so that the tank looks like part of the house. A section of drywall will be removable via Velcro to allow for access to electrical and plumbing if need be

Hole cut through floor and Worked on plumbing with the help of @terrypercula. Might incorporate gate valves in the future for greater control with overflow

Ran through a water test that did not go so great..pictures posted so you can see that the floor sagged

Our solution was bracing the floor with 4x4s to the basement. Involved lifting the floor with a jack, placing supports and ensuring the floor was level

Now with all that set it was time to move my established tank containing tons of coral down two flights of stairs to set up in the basement. Game plan was to set up a 45g Frag tank with sump and plumb the established tank to both and then to add the 110 down the road when set up. Would avoid the cycle and would be similar to a large water change at that point
And it's gone...

Rock and sand added, almost ready to flip the switch. Right now it doesn't look like a lot of rock but around 1/2 more will be coming from 80 downstairs
