Hey all -

Getting back into the hobby after a good, 20 year hiatus. Purchased a 180.5 Waterbox off another member of this forum and picking up in the very near future.

He was kind enough to throw in the live rock he had established in his tank. The pieces had been sitting outside for a couple of weeks, so I guess I'm trying what my best course of action would be with them now. Do I go through the fun of scrubbing them all down and getting rid of the algae still on the rocks, or do I just put them in the tank and let nature do its thing?

Currently have them sitting in multiple bins with powerheads, heaters and RO/DI water (no salt yet). Should I go ahead and start any of the cycle process, i.e. putting in salt, heating to 78 and adding turbo?

Thanks in advance. Look forward to posting all my minimal victories and multitude of questions/concerns/failures.

Won't be anything beneficial left over. I'd give em the full clean if using. Rather not start off uphill if using dry rock anyway.

And probably written a billion times over on this forum, but what would constitute a full cleaning of my...dead, live rock?

edit: here's 44 gallon bucket 1 of 2. ton of rock.

Am I going to completely screw myself if I don't go the bleached rock route and just put these in a tank to let it run the cycle? Going to have original tank's loaded bio filters that have been kept up.
