Hello all,
So I'm collecting info and gear for my new build. The display will be 60"x30"x24" euro-braced Reef Savvy tank with either two off center overflows or one larger with two drains and two returns. My LFS of choice here in Orlando is Living Reef, whom I just purchased my stand from. The sump area I have available is 46"x26"x35" (i had a section walled off as a dry box for electronics) but that will take up all of the room leaving none for ATO or possible calc reactor. On a recent visit to the store, they had some new industrial sized sumps from My Reef Creations. Absolutely gorgeous with a frag system built in. But what really caught my attention was this new "bio" rock chamber after the sock filter chamber. I can't find and real reviews on these sumps and this bio process.
So I am reaching out to you to see if anyone has more info or experience with the MRC system. Does it allow you to use less rock in your display? Will it become a nitrate factory?? For those that have purchased these sumps, was it worth the $? If you've had one and switched, why?

I have no experience with these sumps but just wanted to say that most reefers have given up on filter socks as they require a lot of maintenance and constant switching out or they become a nitrate filled system. As far as the live rock in the sump you will get various opinions on keeping them or not. I personally have my fuge with nothing else but chaeto and it has been doing very well. If anything I would say maybe put 2-3 small pieces just for pod population. Good luck
