I am building a new reef setup after about ten years of having one set up. The aquarium is going to be 48 X 24 X 24. It will have a center built in overflow. A lot of this build I want to go DIY as I did in the past.

My first project is going to be filtration. My last build was a basic acrylic sump with a drip tray over a chamber of LR rubble, a chemical chamber for Chem-Pure, and my skimmer and UV setup.

I want to build another acrylic sump but I hear the healthiest setup now is a refugium. I have a 54 wide 28 deep by 38 tall space to house my filtration. As far as the sump goes the bigger the better? not sure. Also would the pump, protein skimmer and uv kill the organisms the fuge is breeding? Any ideas on design would be most helpful.

No ideas.. but pics would be great! ;)
