I just bought a nikon d5000 and just started fooling around with it,i put the macro lens on it,i have it on mode a for aperture priority, the iso setting on 100,image quality is in raw(nef),f-stop 9-13,i have the macro lense in manual focus and ever subject i try to focus on is blurry forget even trying the zoom, any help would be greatly appreciated

What kind of Macro Lens? You cannot get a clear view no matter what you try focusing on or just not a clear view when focusing on coral?

When you turn to focus the blur does not change or go away?

Its a nikon macro 55-200 i can get a good shot at 55mm but thats about it

I am just guessing, a f/4.0-5.6? If so you may not be able to focus because you are too close to the subject. With that lens not being a true macro you would have to be about 3 and a half feet away from the subject to be able to focus. The minimum focus distance on that lens is 43 inches.

thats gotta be it,becuase your right on with the lens,im going to have to get a true macro lens, thanks for the help

No problem. You can still get rather nice photos with that lens. But, you just have to be away from the subject a good distance. Of course the macros would not be as nice compared to taking the shot with a true macro.
Glad I could help!
