New carbon question

I changed out my carbon a little bit ago and left for a few came back to half my bubble tip anemones are closed some of it may because I was messing with flow a little to and changed filter pads
Is this normal

Did you rinse the carbon?

May just have been the flow. If they got blasted for a sec that would be normal for them to close up.
