New clam from Aqua SD - white spots on mantle?

Just received this clam from Aqua SD for my first Father’s Day gift and in addition to being less than 1.5” instead of approximately 2”, it has whiteish areas on the mantle. I haven’t seen this before and just drop acclimated it an hour or so ago. It’s hard to get a closeup in focus through the glass today . Any thoughts? Pretty disappointed in the size, but this really has me concerned. Hoping it’s normal. Thanks!

Can't see anything in that pic. Can you try taking a pic with just your whites on?

Is this sufficient? It’s not just towards the outer edge. Hoping this was new growth, but it extends further inside than just the edge. New clam owner here.
