New clam. Hope it not dies

Hi all. Well this is my third attempt to clams. After the first two are a goner I got this one.

Seems to be fine. Full extension and anchored to the rock (neither of the previous did that). But as you see the mantle has some damage. I bought it like this... Should I be worried?

Also this is a very small clam 6 cm or 2.3 inches... But despite being small it's making some great progress.

What caused the first 2 to die?

No idea.... But I still don't know if that damage in the mantel could kill it
