Hey guys I'm new to the salt water hobby and so far really having fun with it! I have a 36x24x12 approx 45 gallons tank with 40 lbs of dry reef rock and a couple of pieces of live rock. So far my aquarium consists of 3 honey bee snails 1 peppermint shrimp and Just added my first fish (clown) :) my question is so far he just keeps swimming up and down in one corner and wanted to know if this is normal? My night LEDs are on and thought he would go to sleep by now but he's like the energiser bunny! 2nd question what are good times of the day to feed him? Last question I'm using a odyssea t5 light with built in timer what's a good time on off settings for the 3 bulbs 10k, actinic and night LEDs

Welcome to Reef2Reef.

How long has the clown been in the tank? It may take it a few days to for it to settle in. My clowns love the anemone I put in the tank and rarely leave it except to eat. Some people like anemones others hate them. If you are thinking about adding one to your tank do your research first.

Anytime of the day should be fine to feed, but be consistent if possible.

Do you have the LEDs on all night, every night? I would suggest giving the tank periods of total darkness.

Could be he's a little nervous having nothing to host. Clowns like to bed down in the comfort of something.
If no corals or anemones are available try putting a small clay pot in the tank for him/her to hide in. :)

Or instead of having an ugly pot in your display you could add crevices and caves in your rocks if you haven't already. Good luck!

I just got him yesterday and my LEDs come on @ 8pm to 6am.just changed that to go off @ 3am...I have a lot of places where he can hide even have a cave in the middle. Good news is he just ate :) so I guess that's a good thing. It looks like he likes to swim against the current on one spot so far.
Thanks guys for your help!

Update so far everything looks good 2nd night and he went to the same place after the lights shut off... Top corner near the heater... I guess that's his new sleeping spot... Cute little guy. Lol
