I just got a new clown that i drip acclimated to my system with the bag laying in the sump fro almost 35 minutes. Added with a net and it is now bobbing near the top of the tank rather than exploring. Is this normal behavior? I have never seen a fish do this.

Interesting. I would think the clown will live depending on a few things, one it was health when you got it, and that your water is within normals ranges. However, some fish just don't do well being moved from one location to another due to stress. I have lost my fair share of fish, and still to this day cannot tell you why they died. Just give it some time, and I hope he makes it.

Okay, Thanks... I know my pH was a bit low but the fish store said it was within a safe range to add more fish. It looked very healthy when I got it and was in a tank with lots of other clowns. I guess we will know more in the morning

Good morning - did he live?

Yes, So far so good. But he's getting stuck to the side of we slits on my weir. I really don't know what to do other than keep pushing him off and hope he gets the picture eventually. My flow really isn't that substantial Its an 800 gal pump fighting about 4 feet of head and dialed back by a ball valve so it rally cant be pushing more than 400 gph.

Can you quarantine him? Or place him in an acclimation box? Something is wrong... A healthy fish shouldn't be getting stuck to a pump intake.

I can’t quarentine because of space restrictions (please don’t stone me) but I could maybe do an acclimation box. Is that just a plastic box with holes to allow flow?

Great information everyone, thank you!
I had an anemone on my last tank and it died in a few days.. so im weary of getting another one until i get this whole reef keeping down haha.
