Is there anything I can do temporarily to relieve the Ich while I'm waiting on the copper treatment? Working on a QT today and hopefully getting copper treatment by Sunday (48 hours from now).

Would MicroBacter7 be suitable for bacterial starter for QT? I was planning to also use some of the sump media from my display tank in the QT as well.

When you get the copper, go to the full dose immediately as low doses have no value. I assume you will have a reliable tester. Target 2.5 ppm for copper power or coppersafe . Cupramine target is 0.5 ppm.

Bacteria in a bottle products can help but understand that these products often require days to be effective. You will need to test ammonia and nitrates until you are certain the tank is cycled. Also, media from your sump is very effective as long as it is not calcareous which would absorb copper and make it difficult to maintain the correct concentration.

This is the sump media I have, I’m not sure what it’s made out of. https://www.aquaholicsonline.com.au/Biopro-Bacteria-House-Bakki-Balls-5kg

The copper product I’ve got access to is Reef Revolution Quarantine, which is 0.10-0.20ppm recommended. LFS doesn’t have a copper test in stock (when i say local it’s a 5 hour round trip).

The specs for the bakki balls indicate the product is made from ceramic, which is most often some type of fired clay. So you should be ok.

Definitely do not exceed the mfg recommended dose for copper. Copper meds have different formulas and dosages vary. Any copper treatment should last for 30 days to ensure the parasites are erradicated. You will still need a test kit to confirm the concentration is stable for the standard 30 day treatment.

I understand the challenges of 5 hour round trips. I face that same dilemma. Lucky for me that I can order via Amazon in the States for fairly fast delivery!

Good luck.

If you can get hold of Rally Pro or Hydroplex by Ruby Reef, these are good to use for dips. It will kill the bugs on them, give relief, and is low stress. Still need to do the copper treatment.
