We put two clown fish in quaritine on saturday evening...and they seemed to be doing fine..today they have been laying on the bottom on the tank and seem to be gasping for air..they have a HOB, a heater...i just put in an air stone about half an hr ago...Tested the water, Ph is 8.2, Ammonia is 0, nitrates and nitrates are 0....not sure what else to do?

any help?

Air stone should help, that's the only thing I can think of, oxygen levels are too low

the air stone has been in since about a 4:30 and they arent any better, they actually look worse, i'm not hoping for the best, they will probally be dead by morning..

Make absolutely sure your temperature is on target.
If it is, humor me here and try an 80% water change. It sounds weird but last time I had a fish do that in QT, a massive water change perked it up. The tank may have been contaminated.

Did the clowns have any signs of illness at all? Where did they come from? How much surface disturbance do you have?

In our quaratine, we have a HOB, and an airstone, the temp is 80 Degrees...salinity is 1.024......tested levels again...Ph is now 8.3...ammonia is 0, nitrates and nitrites are 0....they are still alive...i went and got some anti-biotics today so i started them on that today....

there are no signs on illness on them that i can tell, i've gotten a magnifying glass and checked them out and i can't spot anything...

also you can lower your salinity some.. This will help more oxygen stay in the water column.

The only thing they are doing is resting on the bottom is gasping? Did you try and feed at all? Any response? How did you acclimate the fish?

umm i'm not sure off the top of my head what medicine it was...yes, they are laying sideways on the bottom and gasping for air...not really swimming...i have tried feeding and did not eat...we dripped them for 2 hours

Is this a new tank? Is there anyway there may be windex or a similar chemical if you cleaned it prior to setting up? Window cleaner destroyed my tank. Found someone had poured it in.

its a QT tank, so the only thing in there is a pot, but never had issues w/other fish and using pots, we dont use windex on our aquariums..

don't want to jump the gun here but sounds like brook.

Brook would present symptoms....

Sounds like a chemical in the water, possibly flukes, or maybe internal parasites..

Flukes would be my guess.. If do a fresh water dip to see if there is any.

we are using Instant Ocean Lifeguard Remedy Tablets, we used them on a sick tomato clown we rescued from a dirty petco and he's doing wonderful now...so we will see if this helps

update on clownfish......it is doing much better today...it is swimming around and not gasping as much..i have hope its going to be all right

Do you still have the tomato? Hope you didn't buy some ocellaris? They will scrap till death? Even if you have 2 female tomatoes same thing gonna happen, just a heads up
