I got a clownfish (my first fish) about 24 hours ago. Ever since putting the little guy in the tank I have not been able to get him to eat. He was part of a fresh shipment that my lfs got so I doubt he has eaten in a while... I have a small cave structure that he is spending quite a lot of time in so I'm not sure if hes just too scared or nervous still. I was able to witness him swim right up to one piece of mysis shrimp and one pellet of food that the lfs recommended but he didn't even try and eat it which I thought was really odd :/ Is there anything I can do to help him along? Perhaps another type of food they might like better?

Most fish go through a period where they won't eat when placed in a new tank. Your fish is just adjusting give it time and I am sure it will begin eating. A couple things you can try to entice it to eat is soak the food in products like garlic extreme. Also I have always had the best of luck with cyclopleeze or just frozen Cyclops.

^ I agree with above. I have had clowns go several days without eating after introduction. Try cyclopeez or mysis/mysid. Do not over feed the tank in attempt to get the clown to eat, they can go a couple days without worry.

I no this thread is old but I just put two clownfish is my new tank yesterday and won't eat I have tried it all I hope they are just get adjusted to the new tank

Not to worry. I find this is common. Give it a few days. When you do try use something like brine, mysis shrimp (cut up) or copepods. Small meaty foods work best imo when they are tough to get eating. They are just acclimating most likely
