So I received my awesome b+w ocellaris and snowflake ocellaris pair on Friday. They are doing good. I am however a bit concerned about them anyway. They pretty much stay in the left front corner. They have adventured out on occasion, but really prefer their corner. The only other inhabitants are hermits crabs and snails, neither of which have bothered the fish. And this is a 90g tank. Are they just taking their time adjusting to their new home?
My other concern is when I have attempted to feed them, they will eat a bit of the food while it is in the water column (pumps and power heads are off for feeding) but seem to prefer to eat the food that goes to the bottom. They then take their time in eating the food, and it takes longer than 2 minutes. Should I feed them a lot less? I have trouble really pinpointing how much food (pellets) to drop in as a lot of likes to float, despite being sinking pellets. If I could just get some guidance on taking care of these guys, I would really appreciate it. They are my first fish, so I am ridiculously nervous and I am also a very obsessive pet owner regarding care. Thanks so much.

they are probably just taking their time. they're just getting used to their new home. just watch them in the next few days. I'm guessing they'll be more active by then.

I'd think they're just getting accustomed to their new home :) My pair of ocellaris clowns used to only stay on "their" side, but now they're very bold and (on a side note) they can become down right mean as they mature, as mine have become. I actually leave all the pumps on my tank running when I feed and no one in the tank seems to mind, so you could give that a shot since in the wild the ocean doesn't slow down for the fish to eat and the water movement suddenly disappearing could be causing them to be confused and not eat as aggressively, IMO. Those are two absolutely gorgeous fish by the way! Good luck with them! :D

don't worry to much about it my first fish were a pair of b&w clownfish and they use to always stay on the back corner by the power head now they swim all around my tank. One thing for sure when they see me walking Up they come up to the top cuz they know it's feeding time lol

Thanks everyone! I guess I should count myself lucky they are eating, however silly and slowly. I have noticed for the 30 minutes it is just blues on before lights out, they are more active and adventurous, moving around the aquarium more and exploring.

I have an Ocellaris in a 29g that only occasionally saunters over to the right side of my tank. That is only when the circ pump is off and has been for a while. He and my Royal Gramma evidently are southpaws cause they love that left lower corner. He will occasionally chase a pellet to about halfway across the tank then that is his limit. He has to go back to his safety zone. (I've had the clown about 4 weeks and the r.g. about 3)
Aren't they fun to watch? They seem to love to watch us too!

They ate more today =D They both ate pellets and mysis shrimp. So I am quite pleased and feel they are coming along. Jon, the male, is so silly and sleep in the top of the left front corner, just at the water line. What a goof.

I'm pretty sure clowns are one of the hardier saltwater fish out there. My clowns do the same also and hang mostly to one corner of the tank. Yours look awesome!!! Have fun clowning around!!!

Glad to hear they're doing well! :D
Another great way to get them to exhibit a natural behavior (which is very interesting to watch) is to purchase an anemone for them. :) Mine sleep in their's at night and are super goofy about it. haha
Not sure what direction you're wanting the tank to go in, but just something to think about ;)

I do plan on getting a 'nem further down the line. I am still taking things slow as this is my first tank.

Well they are in a great new home and will live out their lives in leisure.

Only experience I have had with this is when I got my 2 perc's they stayed like you said in "their" corner in my 55 bow-front...I didn't have anything else swimming in the reef....in nature this means one thing...a empty reef means a predator is about hunting. I added 2 green chromis, which swim like MAD and my clowns came right out almost immediately and now they all swim all over the tank. Just my 2 cents

My picassos did the same thing until i got them a nem and pot. Now they wont come out of nem area unless theres food.
Btw, "snowflake" looks awesome but to me looks like a snowonyx. It has the eye of a percula.
