I just got 2 new clowns orange and white one is bigger then the other but not by much. How can I tell if there make or female. I've heard the females are bigger? Anything specific I should know about clowns? I've read up on them pretty good but just curious from actual clown owners.

They may not have been together long enough yet to make their changes into male and female. Though how you will tell is the female will be much larger, more dominant and the male will do this seizure type of movement in front of the female.... often. Dont freak out if you see that, it's a submission thing.

Yep, all clowns are born male. The bigger, meaner one becomes female. As long as they haven't changed to female prior to you getting them, one will become the female when they establish dominance. It is always fun to see the bonding.

Note, females will bully the males quite a bit. Do not freak out about it. If they cause actual damage to each other, then they will not bond.

I have a girl who has tried to kill three others I have tried to bond her with.

After they become a pair, don't be surprised if the clowns bite the hand that feeds them. My two were great, and then... now I can't put my hand in the tank for any reason without being bit by both of them. Of course, they are laying eggs about every two weeks so that could have something to do with it.

One thing to keep in mind when pairing Clowns is to try and keep a big size difference in the two. If your Clowns are nearly the same size it may take one longer to dominate the other. And a lot more battles to get that done. Hopefully they will both live through it.
