New coral health

Hate to post questions because I know the answer is on the forum somewhere.
I purchase a brain coral frag and chalise frag from my LFS, he says low light and flow, but how can I tell if they really like where they were placed in the tank. I have a T5 fixture with a white light and a acentic blue light.

Generally they will puffy looking and not deflated. Depending on which brain coral you are referring to. Brain coral is a catch all adjective for many corals. Chalices some really puff up others not as evident. But you will notice if the chalice looks pulp or deflated so you can see its skeleton ridges under the flesh.

Another way is if it is eating. At night you should see feeders out. Also depends on the type of brain coral. When you feed your tank they should go into feed mode and actively eat.
