Im bored at work soooooo
Let's talk about our favorite corals!!!
I'm looking to buy a few more corals for my DT. I'm not too sure about sps as I only have one and its meteor shower encrusting.

What I have:
Blue/orange mushrooms
10-11 sp of zoa/paly
Red acan lord
Green/blue Acan lord
Hammer coral
Meteor shower cyphastrea.

So...what's YOUR favorite!?

Get a tyree ponape birdsnest. Great starter sps. Low med and high light. low med high flow too Nice pinky purple greeny color depending on the light.
Just saying, i have apparently tried hard to kill it and now I have two 3in colonies in spots just to see what it does in different spots plus little 1" frags growing out.

I love tyree corals. Is that how you say that, they're like "founders" lol like Jason fox or tubbs?
I like birds nests but I tried a stylo and I didn't like it. Felt like I couldn't feed it enough ya know?

I love my dendros....definitely my favorite. Other than it, my black sun coral and my pincushion leather are good corals.

I have 2 orange sun corals and I don't like them. Trying to sell atm.
I'm hard to please lol

The orange sun corals seem harder to please...the black are real easy and have a cool look. They aren't solid black...more like the color of oil poured on the ground...the black with shades of purple and blue.

Hahaha. I've never fed my stylo's. Purple or green. I have a five inch one I'm selling and a four inch.
Oh wait!

Here's the other colony

The tyree is a bigger than a golf ball

This is the other colony.

Is the one on the left an acro? I like the look of them but would want something bushy rather than branching. It would have to fit in my nano lol
I have an AI prime running 18-20k at 60% most of the day. Would it be ok in mid tank?

Yea that's just a acro photo bomb. The top is the tyree so is the one in the right in the bottom pic. Both are colonies from the Same one inch $5 frag. The difference in growth is flow. Color is light intensity.

Love my stylo's Have a collection going. Also love my Digitata. All very easy corals. So far have Green, purple, and forest fire digi. fast growers!
and
Purple Stylo
JF bug out stylo
ORA pink stylo
Rainbow Stylo
Yellow Stylo

Montipora digitata is another good sps to try if you want to ease into them. Very hardy and a very fast grower.

My favorites are tabling acros, though. Love a nice sized red planet colony.

I've heard tabling and bushy are the best for smaller aquariums. Do you agree?

Also I love that purple one in the first pic, sk8! Is that a digitata?
I'm huge on color, love all the different varieties.
I'll have to look into that one :)

I don't think the size of the tank would matter. I personally think it would be harder to keep acros in a smaller tank since ALK fluctuations can happen much fast. Well any parameter.

That purple sps is a Stylo. When I bought it from a local reefer he thought it was a ora purple stylo. It's been a hardy sucker. Ive lost multiple acros and other sps and this guy just kept growing. Keep it simple is my suggestion. I ran pellets, some gfo, carbon, dosed aminos and always had issues. Took everything off just run a baggie of gfo and carbon and every thing is growing like a weed, and color has became better then ever. Always wanted nitrates and phos at 0 now I try to get nitrates to around 5 and phost .02-.03. SPS can be frustrating.

Im thinking about getting an sps for this main centerpiece of my tank buuuuut I may end up getting another LPS instead. Theyre a lot easier (for me anyway).
I like acans but I already have a red one and a blue/green one. I dont think I could have a rainbow because of my lights.
What LPS do you guys have that you love?

Lobophyllia brains. I had a blue and red one at one point that was one of my favorite corals, but alas, was sold with the old tank. Still trying to find a new one

Wow that is pretty!
How big was yours/how big does it get?
Easy to frag?

They can get large, but they're not one you frag. They're really a showpiece type coral that you just kind of let go. That one was probably 6-8 inches across. Had better tissue extension than most of them do, too.

I heard lobos have long feeder tenticles....true?
