i just purchased a new coral from the lfs and the woman forgot to include the dip in my bag. I noticed something that appears to be hair algae and I was wondering how to treat it.

Yes HA, manual removal is your best treatment as of now as this is the only you have I assume.
What kind of life stock do you have?

try manual removal, with tweezers or with your fingers, goodluck

Dips wont kill algae without damaging the cloves as it would be pretty strong remove it manually or if you have some tangs they will hammer it in no time.

I have a yellow tang, hipo tang, coral beauty, flame angel, lawnmower blenny, scooter blenny, convict goby, clowns and cardinal fish. Several snails, hermits, tuxedo urchin, starfish and emerald crab.

And on side note, what's ur opinions on a diy algae scrubber placed in the sump?

Algae scrubbers are a good defense for Po4 and No3, it's going to take awhile before you have algae growing into or on your scrubber as that depends for what kind you get.
With all these tangs in your tank I would worry about that little algae, once they find your new coral they will go after it.
Yet manual removing of the HA will help them and you get rid of it faster.
Don't rely on your LFS on the dipping, you need to dip your corals at all time.
It will kill or get rid off most if not all pest on your corals but with only one dip you won't get rid of the eggs if any on your coral.
Doing a 4 to 6 week quarantine in a frag tank will be your best plan to get rid of it all before released in the DT.
The thing is not everyone can do this as they have just one tank and that is the DT.
Still dip the first time your self even the LFS did it for you.
Most ppl use Bayer now days to dip, use the search finder on the right top to find any threads about it.
Can you tell me the size on your tank?
