So after receiving a batch of corals that brought in Algea and other pests, I am going to QT a batch of corals I bought on the live auction. Does the tank need to be cycled?
Filled with water from DT, have 20g tank, HOB, heater, power head, Fluval nano 25000k light and Frag rack.
I don’t know if corals create ammonia? Tank won’t be fed (unless anyone thinks I should use AV fuel) mostly acros and a couple euphylia. I can do water changes from DT, I have Prime and Stability. I can add a piece of live rock from DT.
Just never done this with corals. Any knowledge would be great. Watched a vid on BRS but it didn’t mention or address cycling.
Thanks
Kent

Use Fuel. The corals will die without any nitrogen source or phosphate It wouldn't be a bad idea to add something like microbacter 7 or some other mix of cycling and heterotrophs. Zooxanthellae can use ammonia but I tend to like to add something anyways.
