I went to a local frag swap 2day and got a bunch of corals which included, bird of paradise birdnest, ora green birdnest, ora red planet, hawkins enchinata, purple delicate deepwater acro, and a orange monti cap.

What type of lighting, flow, etc do these prefer, especially the deepwater

I have all of those in high light high flow, excepting the purple delicate as I'm not sure which one that is. However, I typically keep lokani's and similar deep waters in higher light/flow as well

I have the red planet at the top under T-5's, also have the green birdsnest at the top and almost bottom, both doing well.

All of them like high light and high to moderate flow.

Hawkins: High light/ moderate-high flow
ORA GB: High to moderate light/ moderate flow
ORA RP: High light/ High flow
Orange Monti: Moderate-High light/ moderate to high flow (virtually anywhere)
Don't have the deepwater or B of P, but I'm assuming the B of P is pretty similar to the ORA GB.

Nice little collection:)

Thanks and i put them all on a frag rack about 1/2 a foot under the lights..for now

Pics very soon

Here are the pics, but i noticed the hawkins tissue peeling kinda off on the bottom left under rthe branches???? How do you stop this,it doesnt look like rtn

O ok thanks for telling me that i dont want it all red, could my hawkins be mad because i started it off to high in the tank?

What light was it under, and what light do you have it under now?

IMO, the hawkins is a fairly sensitive piece. It doesn't take kindly to quick changes (in my tank anyways). It and the German Blue Polyp Acro are probably two of the most sensitive ORA corals I have.

I'd start it out midrange at highest, and slowly move it up over the next four weeks or so.

Its hard to stop RTN,go with Ronnie,he knows his stuff, not a newby at all.

Nice stuff,Red Planet is a great piece, but as other have said it loses the green base, the same thing happens with Pink Lemonade, both RP,and PL,they both need moderate light to keep their base coloration. The RP will take and grow out with the green coloration following the branches as they grow out, same thing with the PL,but with yellow.

Hawkins Echinata is a great coral,it grows moderate for me,under 150 MH,it keeps color good, when things are stable, when they go wack,or swing a bit,its gone, and take time for color to return to normal.

Good luck!

it was under t5's at the swap..i have t5's, but mine migh tbe more powerful, im gna move it down and see if it starts looking better

Im moving the hawkins now and im going to try to find a spot lower for the red planet, ill have to see what happens

Ya,RP will get red,and by red I mean deep red,not pink red,but red...lol

Hawkins has not gone well for me twice.I have lost 2 pieces due to RTN.

Good luck!

well as i picked up the frag i notice rtn has taken most of it...so i chopped off 3 branches that werent infected...hope 1 makes it

They "might" make it,Get SuperGlue around the edge of the cut piece and glue it down and leave it,if it goes on from there, its going to be hard to save.

I'm on my third frag of hawkins. Both of the previous have RTN'ed over night. This third one nearly died when I switched tanks, but it has finally started to put on some pretty good growth.

Once you get it really established, it does much better. Getting to that point has been tough for me.
