Well I got my first corals today and I got some questions.
When I first put them do I leave the lights on or off?
How long do i leave the aqtinicts and regular lights on for?
where do I first put them on the sand bed?

well it depends on what u got!

When I first put them do I leave the lights on or off?
i never turn my lights off for coral addition

How long do i leave the aqtinicts and regular lights on for?
what kind of lights do u run? i do 8 hours regular lights and atinics go one hour and half before and after

where do I first put them on the sand bed?
depends on the coral and what kind of light they had before you tank

I got some zoas and a ricordia
tx5 5x54 with individual reflectors
I think they were in a tank that had a mh lighting the tank

if so then you can place them any where, just watch to make sure they are opening and acting normal! i would do 8 hours reg like and 1.5 hours before and after the noraml light of blues, it helps keep my corals nice and colorful

Should i ever leave the regular lights and aquatinicts on at the same time?

yea for the 8 hours have both on so ur go do this

10:30am-Noon-only blues
Noon-8-Whites and blues
8-9:30-blues

what do u mean? look at what i typed....it has the day schedual right there 1030 u turn on blues noon blues and whites then 8 whites go off then at 930 blues go off

u should have never turned them off, when u add corals theres no need to turn off the lights so yes start the sch tmrw :)

Thanks for the help sucks though found out that one of my hermit crabs was eating my zoas.

yea your time schedule is your preference... i run mine 12 hours to get the most viewing time 11am-11pm with 2 hrs before and after actinics i mean if you rise early and sleep early no harm in bumping it up to 9am or vice versa

Yea but school is starting and have to wake up early. So Ill just leave as is thanks though

Yea whatever you do, the white lights and the blue lights should be used together. Alot of times people will just use the actinics (blues) to "warm up" the corals and get em up and moving.

So whenever i turn on my lights the actinicts and white should be turned on at the same time?

no the actinics should be used alone at the beginning and end of your light cycle and then combined with you're daylights the entire time so basically you're actinics only go off at the beginning and end it's your daylights that go on and off in the middle

Heres an example...

8:30-9:30 Actinics on
9:30-6:30 Actinics and Daylights on
6:30-7:30 Only actinics on. All lights off at 7:30, or put on moonlights or whatever
